Your home away from home in Puerto Cayo, Ecuador. While you stay with us, you will not only have your own private, spacious, fully furnished apartment, you will also be a member of our lovely gated villa community featuring a lush, landscaped lawn, a swimming pool, a BBQ pit, a laundry room, and a recreational palapa complete with hammocks, lighting, and an outdoor dining area. Twice per week, Fernando’s food truck stops by to supply you with fresh, locally-sourced fruit, vegetables, and more. Others will occasionally stop by with delightful treats like fresh seafood and raw local honey. There’s even an ice cream truck! If there’s something else you need, you may walk or take a taxi into the quaint, quiet town of Puerto Cayo, where you can find fresh-caught seafood, handmade baked goods, and a variety of shops, restaurants, and bars to meet your every need. Yet Puerto Cayo is more a sleepy fishing village than a bustling tourist town, which means you are in for a truly authentic taste of coastal
Ecuador.
Pasatiempo del Sur is just a one-minute walk away from Puerto Cayo beach, a vast, vacant beach with soft sands and stunning panoramic views. Should you wish to explore the region’s natural beauty even further, you can head south into Machalilla National Park, which includes Los Frailes, one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Ecuador. Farther south is Aqua Blanca, a site featuring pre-columbian ruins, a hot springs lake, hiking trails, and horseback riding. Continue south to find Puerto Lopez, where you can catch tours to Isla de la Plata—the “Poor Man’s Galápagos.” Whether you are an adventurer or a beach bum, a couple or a family, you can rest assured that you will have a unique beach vacation here at Pasatiempo del Sur, Puerto Cayo, Ecuador.

My home away from home
I want to thank Janet for being so considered throw… the corona problem. She allowed us to stay for free for as long as it took for Canada to send a plane to pick up the stranded in Ecuador. I can not say enough about Janet choice of care take, he was amaising, he helped with everything and with out him we would not have made it home. That happy family Tony Linda and Lucy made it so pleasant to be in that lovely gated villa.

This gorgeous beach condo is located right across the street… from the beach. If you like walking on the beach you are in luck. You can walk forever on this lovely and serene beach.
Pasatiempo Del Sur has a safe environment, secure parking, is very clean and has comfortable furnishings and bed. Ron & Janet were great hosts. They went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable.

Will feel like home–amazing hosts!
Can’t recommend this place enough! Ron & Janet make you… feel like part of the family. We stayed her for five nights at the end of a month long trip to Peru & the Galapagos and just wanted to spend some relaxing beach time. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate as it was overcast & damp for our entire stay–payback for the exceptional weather we had the rest of our trip, I guess. But the place was fantastic. We got upgraded to the 2 bedroom upstairs because a woman who had booked for a 2 month stay after we had had trouble with stairs and wanted the 1 bedroom downstairs. Not a problem Despite the weather, it was still a very relaxing time. The apartment was great and would have been tremendous for a long stay. This is a beautiful place
This is a beautiful place very close to the ocean,… very relaxed. There is a very well maintained swimming pool, a huge, beautiful garden and lovely areas to relax. The apartment we had was fantastic with plenty of room, TV, sitting area, hot water, plenty of cooking utensils etc. Drinking water was provided as well. The owners are great, very friendly and laid back.
Puerto Cayo itself is a lovely little town with some shops, restaurants and friendly people. Manta is only an hour away. Highly recommended for a relaxed stay by the sea. Read more “This is a beautiful place”
